Kaleidoscopes
Guitar Hero
Psychedelic
This project was one of the most interesting ones out of all of them. I really enjoyed experimenting with the photos, turning them into something that can't even be recognized. It was really fun creating these edits. I especially tried to experiment with new shapes and designs, moving away from using the ruler method, and trying something new. That's how I got the beautiful hexagonal shape for the second one, which is a Chinese Fan by the way, and that's how I got the concentric rainbow patters in the one you see above. And as I said before, you really cannot tell what it is. I chose the title 'psychedelic' because I feel like this is what one sees when they are in a trance. The first one is a "Flower Fractal". If you look closely its a kaleidoscopes made of a flower picture; what's interesting is that zoom out a little bit, and the fractal itself becomes flower shaped.
The middle 2 are kaleidoscopes of my acoustic guitar, which I felt wasn't represented enough in my ethnography. Again, I tried to use a different, unique shape with this 'butterfly' shaped kaleidoscopes. Its unorthodox having hexagon and butterfly shaped images but, I guess rules are meant to be broken.

Bonus: Spotted Deer
I have always wanted to learn how to do this to a photo. Looking around photos in general, these kind of photos always look the most artsy and deep in general. Which is why I definitely wanted apply this to my photos. I decided to use the most colorful photos as possible. The first picture is one of my friend Jordan, who wears these bright green clothes to school, regularly. I thought about making it look like a 'Nike ad' but since Jordan was too shy to strike an athletic pose, this was the best I could get. I made sure to highlight the green in his jacket and the bright colors on his shoes. The second is a mural painted on a building in downtown Ann Arbor. I'm usually not good at 'interpreting' art, but the bright blue colors and the motivating words really send a nice, positive message. Which is why it was important to highlight it among the black and white. The final one is a picture of stained glass at the Michigan League, in the University. I was lucky to sneak in and get this picture even when there was some important meeting there. In the 2 images; in one I highlighted the word 'Inspiration' and in the other, the two ladies and their dresses. I would have definitely come up with more meaningful images if there was no time constraint, because this filter/technique really interests me.
BONUS: This is a Spotted Deer, photographed in West India in Gir National Park. Keeping it short, she is a young fawn who is only 1 year old, but 'perspective' makes her look much bigger. I highlighted her and a green plant in the background to give it sort of a balance with regard to color. I rate her a solid 11/10, no questions asked.
